Poll: Should Americans be able to use the NICS Background Check System to Perform Voluntary Checks Before Private Gun Sales?

Should All Americans Have Access To The FBI’s NICS Background Check System to Perform Background Checks Before Gun Sales? – Read, Take the Poll & Comment Below.

Some states like Montana already have a state system that anyone can check. If you have an accurate first and last name of an individual in Montana who wants to perform a private firearms transaction with you, a search of a state government database can allow you to search for Montanans who have committed felony crimes IN Montana.

If someone who contacts you about your gun for sale gives you reason to believe they should not own a firearm, The Montana Correctional Offender Network Website or CONWEB at https://app.mt.gov/conweb/ gives you a tool to make that easier. Remember, it is NOT a national search, it is only searching for felony crimes committed in Montana!

On countless occasions, it has allowed Montana residents to stop the personal sale of a weapon to someone who is not able to own one legally. One can simply verify a first and last legal name by asking for a photo of a drivers license, or often even a quick search on social media. They can then profile someone before you even try to contact them. This has personally helped me avoid questionable sales twice. I will sometimes reply to a contact made to me for a weapon I am selling privately stating that if they find themselves in here, then add the conweb link, I won’t be able to meet with you.

Vote and then comment below. Then share links to your state’s system if available below.
